Tracy Lee

The first time you walked into Rooted church, you probably were greeted with the ever-present smile of Tracy Lee. She is an encourager, prayer-warrior, and fervently in love with the Lord. She is married to Pastor Gary and mother to Phoebe, Apollos, and Manny. We are so grateful to have her as part of the hospitable heartbeat of our church.

Here is the testimony of how Tracy first met Jesus:

After Tracy graduated from high school in Virginia, she visited relatives in L.A. and started attending a Chinese church where her cousin invited her to their youth group. These teens impressed her because not one of them drank, smoked, or swore, yet they all loved Jesus and made her feel at home with them, even though she secretly had a sailor’s mouth and knew nothing about the Bible! Back in Virginia during college, she joined her first Bible study and it was at a convicting fall retreat that she finally acknowledged she was a sinner (Romans 3:23) in need of salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9), turned her life over to Christ and asked Him to lead it however He wanted. After she graduated, she returned to L.A. where she worked for the Fox Kids Network and began serving in the same youth ministry that introduced her to Jesus. She met her future husband in 1997 when he later became the youth pastor intern at her church.

What is your favorite passage of Scripture? Why?

Galatians 2:20 is one of my favorites, because it was one of the first verses I was required to memorize in a Navigators discipleship group and it opened my eyes to not only the incredible sacrifice of Christ, but to His indwelling resurrection power in me!

"I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me (ESV)."

What was important in a church that it brought you to Rooted? How long have you been here?

God brought Pastor Gary and I to plant Rooted for His glory from the very beginning of its inception (2019 and even earlier), and it was most important to us that Rooted would be established as His church according to His Word no matter what kind of people He drew to it.

What is something that COVID has grown in you?

A deeper and more passionate prayer and evangelistic life.

God has given me a heart to see beyond the four walls of my own home and state lines to share the Gospel with folks from all over North America by becoming a Prayer Line Associate for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association as of Jan, 2021. Every time I pray for and counsel someone with God’s Word, I am preaching the Gospel back to myself and trusting that His Word does not return empty but accomplishes what God sent it out for, according to Isaiah 55:10-11, hallelujah!

What is your biggest hope to see happen within the Rooted family?

“God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son,” (Romans 8:28-29)

Based on these verses, my biggest hope is that we as a church would all be conformed more and more to the image of God’s Son with each passing week, month, and year, and that we would be humble and thankful children of God, knowing we are doing better than we deserve!

Please take a moment and pray over Tracy today! Thank the Lord for her, for her servant's heart, and for the joy that the Lord has placed so deeply in her soul. Lift up her family, her ministry, and for the people the Lord is using her to draw to Himself.
