You have probably seen Jac on Sunday mornings with a smile on her face. Or maybe you've exchanged enthusiastically kind words with her before and after service. Here is a bit of her faith story:
Raised in a second generation Christian home, Jac grew up knowing little else than the Christian culture bubble her parents raised her in. Jac found her identity in being a ‘good’ Christian, and her pride swelled into a spiritual battle against knowing versus believing who God is and could be in her life. However, God didn’t let her stay in her false securities and brought her through situations where she would slowly realize the inadequacies and lack of control in her life. That it only takes surrender to see God as an all-powerful and loving Father that can give meaning in her life. Her hope is that her testimony continues to grow more each day along with her desire to passionately do His Will, be more like Jesus, and lean on His amazing grace.
On top of sharing her testimony, Jacinth also answered a few of the following questions:
What brought you to Rooted?
I personally wanted to challenge myself to step out of my comfort zone and the easy church-going norm. I also saw a need for a community that could reach second-generation Christians in multi-cultural families to understand its unique challenges and encourage one another to love Jesus.
What is your biggest hope to see happen within the Rooted family?
That Rooted wouldn’t be another ‘Sunday morning’ church and feed into the complacency of the Christian culture, but rather that every member be intentionally challenge each other to grow deeper roots in their faith and desire to be more accountable in one another’s walk with Christ.
What does it look like for you to be part of the body of the church?
Being accountable for my actions and faith, discipleship and doing life together.
What is an area that COVID has grown you in?
My personal relationship with Jesus outside of serving on Sundays.
Currently, Jac's favorite passage of Scripture is Ephesians 3:16-19: "that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being,17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love,18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God." Jac said this is her favorite passage because "It is so important in a changing world to be deeply rooted in a solid foundation of faith, truth and love all found in Jesus."
Take a moment today to thank the Lord for His work in Jac's life and to pray for her to continue to grow in His truth!
